Caring for your Uuni Stone Baking Board:
The Uuni Stone Baking Board is made of solid cordierite stone. Using a pizza stone mimics the effects of cooking a pizza in a masonry oven. The porous nature of the stone also helps absorb moisture, resulting in a crispy crust.
The Uuni Stone Baking Board should only be used to cook pizza or any other food types that consist of dough, such as flatbread. Food other than pizza/bread (meat, seafood, veg etc) should be cooked in a dish or pan that can withstand up to 500˚C/932˚F. The Uuni Sizzler pan is perfect for this.
Do not leave the stone outside for extended periods of time. The stone can absorb humidity from the air and it can take a little longer to heat up next time it comes to using your Uuni.
Pizza stones can be fragile when hot or wet. Do not remove your pizza stone until it has fully cooled down and do not use it until it’s completely dry. Doing so could cause it to crack.
Many Uuni owners prefer not to clean their stone and allow the high Uuni temperatures to burn off any excess food. If your Uuni Stone requires washing, use warm water only and dry thoroughly by placing in a warm oven (60˚C/140˚F) for 2 hours, alternatively, you can flip the stone over and use it on the opposite side, allowing the high temperatures to clean the previously used side.
Uuni Stone Baking Board comes as standard with Uuni wood-fired ovens and can be purchased separately for other ovens and previous Uuni models.
